Your first wallet and transaction

After onboarding, the fastest way to make Varuno useful is one wallet and one transaction.

Create a wallet

  1. Go to Wallets in the bottom navigation and tap .
  2. Pick a type: bank, credit card, debit, cash, stock/investment, travel card or retirement.
  3. Fill in the type-specific form. Two types behave differently:
    • Credit cards track a balance owed rather than money you hold.
    • Retirement wallets ask for your scheme, country, age and employment details so contributions can be estimated.

Wallets can hold balances in more than one currency, and Varuno values them using daily exchange rates. You can archive a wallet at any time, and deleting one is a soft delete with a confirmation — archived wallets can be restored.

Record a transaction

  1. Tap the button.
  2. Choose Expense or Income.
  3. Enter the amount, category, wallet and date, then save.

Salary income has one extra ability: it can automatically calculate CPF (or your country’s scheme) contributions through the contribution sheet. Editing or deleting a salary transaction later recomputes or reverses those contributions automatically.

Deleting any transaction shows a 6-second undo option.

Transfers are not spending

Moving money between your own wallets — including funding a savings goal — is a Transfer (+ → Transfer). Transfers never count as spending in budgets or analytics, so use them instead of an expense-plus-income pair.

Next steps

  • Set up a budget: Budgets → + for a category or overall monthly limit, with optional rollover.
  • Create a goal: Goals → + with a target, optional deadline, colour and icon.
  • Explore Insights for net worth, cash flow and spending patterns.
